Gangotri is a holy Hindu pilgrimage town in the Uttarkashi district, situated at 3,048 metres. It is one of the Char Dham pilgrimage sites and the origin of the Bhagirathi River, the main headstream of the Ganga, with a revered temple dedicated to Goddess Ganga.
